Tom, Thanks for the pointer it worked! Skype is now working. NOTE: I had to change the audio setting in Skype to use the “HDA Intel” for Input and Output.

Hello Russ,
Thank you so very much for a very informative podcast.
I have never thought of myself as a geek but maybe I am morphing into one.
I will soon be shopping for a laptop: my current computer is a Dell that I bought refurbished 11 years ago. It’s a metaphor for me: getting a bit dim, rather slow in operation but still working as advertised. However…..it has no USB ports, no HDMI, a 2 GB hard dive, etc.
So….it will soon be time for a new computer and I am rather nervously considering Ubuntu as my OS of choice. As I am not a computer expert I really wanted something that would work well out of the box. I had found System 76 on the web, had narrowed my choice to the Pangolin, partly because of the screen size. I am 64 years old and my eyes need all the help they can get.
Anyway, your review gave me the comfortable feelings that I was hoping for. I think I shall give system 76 a call.
Thanks again for your help. I would also like to say that I found your podcasting “style” very warm and friendly. I shall keep a watch on you!
Thanks again,
Roy.
